Walkthrough

This is my dissertation project for my final year in University. I attempted to create photorealism in VR in UE5. I used the Quixel Megascans Library but also modelled and textured assets too. I created a water shader that works in stereo, a light shaft material, created some realistic textures (wooden planks and grass) and also programmed birds, a working clock and a blueprint utilising static mesh instancing for better performance.
All of the lighting is real time and this was made using the forward shader due to the low performance VR has using the deferred renderer. Essentially, I did not have access to Nanite, Lumen, Ray Tracing or any other nice rendering features and technologies the deferred renderer provides for better realism.
